Strawberries are not just delicious and healthy to eat; they also can be used to improve your hair, skin, and teeth. Clearly, I was not “title creative” today! You can eat them to get the benefits listed below, but these DIY, simple remedies can boost the improvements.
Important: Do a patch test on your wrist first to see if you have an allergic reaction.
Vitamin C helps produce collagen that strengthens your hair. Try a pre-wash conditioner.
To make: Take eight strawberries and one tablespoon of mayonnaise and whisk or blend them together. Dampen your hair (towel dry excess moisture) and massage it in, and cover with a warm towel. Leave it on for a minimum of 10 minutes up to a few hours, and then shampoo your hair as usual.
Strawberries contain salicylic acid which helps fight acne. Try a daily face wash.
To make: Take five large strawberries and a cup of water, and blend until smooth. You can also add one tablespoon of almond oil (optional). Apply it to your face and neck using your fingers or a soft cloth. Massage it in for one minute before rinsing. Keep the remaining cleanser in the fridge until you finish it.
Note: You may break out more at first as it removes more dirt than your cleanser.
Dry or mature skin
The high amount of Vitamin C in strawberries makes them fabulous for dry or aging skin. Try a strawberry face mask.
To make: Take two ripe strawberries and one tablespoon of mayonnaise and whisk or blend them thoroughly. Apply the mixture to your face and neck. Leave on for 15 minutes and then rinse off and dry your skin.
Strawberries have an abundance of alpha-hydroxyl acid that help get rid of dead skin cells.
To make for your face: Take one or two strawberries, mash them with a fork, until a pulpy texture and rub over your skin and neck.
To make for your body: Take 20 strawberries and whisk until a pulp consistency. Rub the mixture on the parts you want to exfoliate and rinse it off and wash your skin.
To make for your feet: Take eight strawberries, one and a half tablespoons of olive oil and one teaspoon of course salt and whisk into a paste. Massage it into your feet and then rinse and pat dry.
Strawberries contain salicylic acid which dissolves stains on teeth from things like coffee, tea, and red wine. Make yourself a strawberry paste.
To make: Mash two strawberries with a fork, and add a teaspoon of baking soda. Brush it onto your teeth for five minutes and then rinse.
When used too often, the acid in the paste can cause teeth to erode, so use it only once or twice a week.
These are just some of the DIY things you can do with strawberries!
