As some of you may have seen the notification, I was supposed to launch Style Adventure Magazine on Monday
It wasn’t meant to be, however. What instead happened was a complete site disaster and then me accidentally pushing out the launch announcement on this blog when the site wasn’t ready!
Bit of a backstory
Let me backtrack a little bit. I started Style Adventure Magazine on Wix last year. I love the WordPress community and wasn’t getting the most out of Wix, so I decided to transfer the site to WordPress. To build websites, I use WordPress.org. What ensued this time around was something I had never experienced before.
It initially took me two weeks to build the site. All I had to do was wait for Wix to transfer the domain name to the provider I use to host my other domains. It took up until Sunday. So, I thought great, I’m ready to go on Monday like planned….except no! I had to add site security and what was working in the morning, quickly disappeared. All formatting, images, the layout, design – everything disappeared, except for text. I rescheduled my launch announcement for 5:00 pm. thinking the issue would be resolved around noontime.
To make a long story short (I know, too late!)
Noon came and went, and I was still on support calls between WordPress, GoDaddy and the security company. I will make another “13-hours of work”story short. Yes, I was up until 3:00 am redoing most of the magazine! An error with the provider’s set up led to me losing most of my site and having to almost start from scratch!
I forgot that I had not cancelled the scheduled post (so sorry to all that saw it and a site that was a mess!). It took me until 11:00 am today to finish as much as I could rebuilding the website. So, I’m pushing it out before something else goes wrong! I’ll tinker around the back-end until it’s right.
Follow if interested; I will follow back!
After this long and drawn out story – check out Style Adventure Magazine if you’re interested. It features ethical and fair trade fashion, skincare and travel tips! It has to be a labour of love after all of this. 🙂
Have a beautiful day! I will be back to posting three times a week on this blog and reading and enjoying your amazing posts now that this is done.
