I posted this on Canada’s birthday, but it didn’t post properly, so I mentioned I would repost because this is my most Canadian smoothie ever and it’s awesome! Before I get into the smoothie, for those that are wondering what a beaver tail is, it’s a Canadian pastry. In honour of our 150th birthday on July 1, I made a red and white smoothie bowl for breakfast. Realizing I am not talented enough to design the Canadian flag on a smoothie, I have some time to achieve this for next year.
I decided to make this as Canadian of a smoothie bowl as I could and include some beaver tail ingredients and a little maple syrup!
Some of the health benefits – yes surprisingly there are some – include supporting skin and hair health, weight loss, and helping to fight infections
Canada Day strawberry coconut smoothie bowl
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 scoop vanilla vegan protein powder, I use Vega Sport
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon natural maple syrup
Toppings for decoration
- 1.5 tablespoons coconut whipped cream, see my recipe or you can buy it
- 1 strawberry
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar for sprinkling
Note: The ingredients from a beaver tail are vanilla, milk and sugar (I took some liberties with how to work it into a vegan bowl!)
Add all ingredients minus toppings into a blender and puree until smooth. Add toppings and serve.
